I belive the gentleman was refering to the old west days where acting smug after taking a group of people's money would get you shot/knifed/whatever. :) Of course these days, wasn't there just a story in the news about some teen that killed his parents because they both had a snowball (horrible sugar-cake thing) and didn't save one for him? Maybe the saying still applies, at least when playing with unstable family members...
