impair productivity to any significant extent. Usually, although it may take a (relatively short) while to find an unfamiliar function, people tend to learn quickly how to get to it again. I think that a sense of how much time is typically lost searching for a function overestimates the amount of time lost. (If people spend 10 minutes a day, *every day*, hunting for functions, that's still only 2% of their day. Which is miniscule. And I don't know anyone who loses ten minutes every day searching for functions they can't find in a program.)
