in his argument he states that the world of today is full of computers that can handle the loading and running, so that is not a legitimate answer. Just because you don't have to have it, doesn't mean it's bad to acutally have it according to him. So as far as your same speed with less gas usage goes, he sees it as: "So what, in today's world I'm rich" (Not literally, just applying it to technology).
