There's a book called "Veni, Vidi, Vici - Conquer Your Enemies, Impress Your Friends with Everyday Latin", still in print.
This is a book of Latin words/phrases(a few words long) with their meanings in English.
There are about 20 (maybe up to 30, but likely 20) that have a bearing on the content of my soon-to-be-in-place web site.
What I would like to do is have a Latin phrase of the week, where I add commentary that links the the phrase to the content/purpose of my site.
I looked at the website for the publisher (Harper Collins)... all of their permissions information indicates that I have to have a publisher to reproduce their material in any quantity. What I *want* to do is quote the text (1-2 sentences) and add a link back to the publisher and/or the book on Amazon or somesuch.
Can I do this without explicit permission? Thoughts on how to approach them for permission? Thoughts in general? ;-)
Thanks all. |
