As stated earlier, what we had previous to the Newsweek article was allegations mainstream muslims regarded as the ranting of fanatics. However this alleged report seemed to come from someone in a position to know the real story. The Koran is a Holy item to all Muslims, defacing (about the equivalent to leaving solid human waste on the altar at the vatican) it is to invite disaster from even the most benign of them. In other words that mosque down the steet from you (well there is one for me) it could potentially be full of people committed to Jihad. Not a good thing at all.
