Earlier in day, talked to some old co-workers (while entering their election pool). General consensus among participants: Yes to STV, and STV won't pass :-(
Okay, I voted 20 mins ago: Green && Yes.
While waiting to find out my poll # (I didn't get the reg card) , I saw an elderly woman being helped by poll worker: she was seriously grumpy (I've never had so much trouble getting to vote) - I think she didn't have her card, so had to be looked up first. Then he told her there were 2 ballots: 1 for electing a representative, and 1 for the referendum. "What referendum?"
She was still sitting at the polling station 4 minutes later.
And that, my friends, is yet another reason that STV won't pass. Not only do too many people find it confusing (if they spent 5 minutes reading about it instead of listening to former premiers saying "ohnoit'stoodarncomplicated" on the radio, they wouldn't have such a problem), but they don't even know that it's happening!
ARGH!
