Evolution or Adaptation? by tdevlin2005-05-17 13:39:43
The two are one and the same by Arachnid2005-05-17 13:41:59

Whether they are one and the same is unproving, as many scientists disagree with that statment. Some claim they are the same and a good majority claim they are not the same. The point in the example shown is that the species is yet still the same and therefore no evolution has taken place. Darwin penned the theorys' definition as "Biological evolution is the process of change by which new species develop from preexisting species over time;" But like everything, it can be twisted and rewrote to speculate what he "actually" meant, hence the 50 or so different definitions that exist for it now-a-days.

In this scenerio though I'd have to stand by my point that this fits Adaptation in it's rawest definition more than "evolution". Definition of Adaptation: "Any heritable characteristic of an organism that improves its ability to survive and reproduce in its environment.".

If you look at those two definitions closely you can see that there is a difference.
