responsibility to expose the misdeeds of the government, when those misdeeds come to light?
I would agree with you that our current media seems uniquely unqualified to do so, given that they care more about attention and ratings than honesty, but ideally, shouldn't it be part of their job?
I'd say yes, and it really worries me that they're basically removing their own ability to do so by running around printing hearsay and/or imagination as "fact". But then, I guess they've always done this to some degree, as the integrity of the media is hardly a new harping point. |
