Warning: Molly Ivins. DR66 should not read this. by kelli2172006-11-19 12:55:59
Par for the course for Molly. by leistico 2005-05-17 10:26:12
No surprises here. Just as there are some who feel any given administration (Clinton, Carter, Kennedy, Roosevelt, et al) can do no wrong, there are those who feel that the media can do no wrong, even when someone later comes forward and actually provides evidence of said wrongdoing. Of course, the consequences of their actions were not caused by their actions. Corelation does not equal causation, and all that tripe.

To me, it's fairly simple. The story was written, then the riots and violence occurred with people brandishing copies of Newsweek as justification. <hypocritical_blindness>Of course the article in no way contributed to the deaths of those killed in the rioting. Newsweek has no responsibility for the deaths that ensued.</hypocritical_blindness>

Interesting bit of trivia: Isikoff was the writer of the initial Lewinski story, for Newsweek, and the thing that garnered the most attention was that Newsweek spiked the story before it ever saw print. The whole business would never have seen the light of day had not Drudge learned that Newsweek decided not to print it at the last minute. I look at this instance, and I look at the current debacle. 2 + 2 = 4. Newsweek lied, people died.
