It was the first line -- "work of fiction," to be exact.
See, the problem is that any scripture, of any religion, takes on a significance by dint of the wisdom it contains that far outweighs the entertainment value of, say, A Midsummer's Night Dream. People who accept that wisdom and use it to guide their lives can become offended when their guiding wisdom is compared to the works of the Brothers Grimm, George Bernard Shaw, and the like.
Just my own opinion, but I think that may be the rub that's got their hackles raised. |
