I'm late for work, but... by Kickstart 2005-05-17 08:00:22
...as much as it sounds like I'm completely choked about all this, I'm not. What I really objected to at first was the claim by someone in this thread that discussing the LJ in question here was wrong, cowardly and hypocritical. Someone else used those words first, not me.

Have I made some wrong decisions here as a mod? Oh hell yeah. Do I think that disabling Naruki and specific others was wrong? Oh hell no. If anything, Naruki should have been disabled by earlier, but s/he was well liked, even by most of the mods at the time, and got a fair bit of leeway. The other situations need to be taken on their own as well.

What it really comes down to is "Does the loss of these posters really means a loss for the UF community?". In the end, we've had no shortage of good discussions, great debates, and interesting personalities to deal with here without those people. A loss is really defined by feeling a lack of something, and I've yet to feel that this place is lacking what I want from an internet community.

It'll never be perfect...thank all the gods, saints, and demons for that.
