but you have a point about public officials. I think you could see my point even if you choose to split hairs. What about a high profile person in the Open Source or Anti-Piracy movements you may disagree with. Someone unpaid but passionate. Can you see whwere your coward label applies or fails?
They're also good at some clear thought and incredibly creative ranting. They're sharp of wit and keyboard and sometimes clever of humor. If you're looking for a verbal battle, you can find it there. If you're looking for opinions, they're there too.
Perhaps I'd feel diferently were I the "Victim".
Perhaps I'd immediately go on the offensive, all trying to defend myself.
Perhaps I'd start slinging coward and hypocrite around in an effort to feel justified and vindicated.
Perhaps I'd wonder how much was my doing and how much their amplification of the offense...
When enough people agree you're wrong it's possible they're right. It's equally possible they're wrong. Generally there's enough wrong, pride, and ego to go around and that's more of a factor than the actual facts of the issue.
To Err is human, to continue stubbornly down the line of errors, compounding the erring behavior until it is habit and then deny it could possibly be true ... that's a problem.
That having been said, I think you generally do a good job and dion't get enough credit when you do things right. I KNOW you get a steaming pile of blame when you do things that are unpleasant or seen as inconsistent or heavy handed. I know you're not paid for this job. I probably couldn't begin to do this job well.
Though my comments in this thread may feel like an attack, and are definitely not in favor of your actions, my intent is to bring these issues to the harsh light of day and convince you that some of it may be you. Not as a gotcha, not as a slam. But as a hopeful UFie feeling the discord and chaos that results. |
