I don't think anyone's going to turn the tapes over as evidence. You don't seriously think the marketers are expected to survive, do you? A determined sysadmin in a server room. That's gotta be worse than the shark tank for the marketers.

Granted, there will be some downtime, but think how satisfying it will be when you come out of the room and calmly tell your boss that "the problem is solved... permanently."
