'Off peak bandwidth' by MrTrick2005-05-16 18:55:35

heh, yeah! Not bad! by purplepineapple 2005-05-16 19:06:50
When my old flatmates moved into their new place, they discovered that Telstra doesn't have a phone line laid there...who know how/when that happened. So they either had to hook up phone service with Optus, or pay the $200 odd telstra asks for installing a new line.

This resulted in a change of internet plans, though... They were going to buy my ADSL modem, but Optus basically said it's dialup or our cable broadband - and a plan which was more expensive than the equivalent ADSL download limit.

We punched the numbers, and for the time they're going to be connected for, there was no real difference - cable is more expensive /month, but it was free installation compared to the $200 phone line + ADSL connection fee.

We've got ADSL with Exetel, ourselves. No cable in this building, even if we did want it...
