Technically you could say that in that scenario you gave your first candidate (threshold/total) of your vote and (surplus/total) to your second, summing up to 1 vote. However, practically you achieved to get your first candidate voted in (which for practical purposes I would count as 1 vote)and on top of that help your second one as well (with a certain fraction of your vote). So IMHO for all practical purposes you had 1+fraction votes. I'd like the system much more if only the votes from the eliminated candidates were redistributed according to your ranking.
