Check your insurance and your card rules. Some cards state that if you know it's probable your number has been taken by somebody for nefarious purposes, and if you don't inform the issuer immediately (ie within hours), you're responsible for every penny. Others, you're only responsible for a deductible. Sometimes home insurance will also cover any identity-theft, but then if you have to make a claim your ins. goes up.
