BC Voters, BC Single Transferable Vote Yay or Nay by MikeCDN2006-11-19 12:55:59
My reason for Yay... by Kickstart2005-05-16 09:59:44
It is a system made for the election of pure party by toxin 2005-05-16 10:16:12
hacks. The first line candidates in each riding will be the quality personalities. The second line candidates for the party will be the "along for the ride" party hacks who could not get elected on their own. These will be the people that are so aggressive as party aparatchiks that they turn off the casual voter. They will be the people who are the perennial yes-men who contribute nothing.

Why?
STV means that those voting a party slate will be choosing based on the primary candidate and the party line. The lead cadidate becomes the public face for the pary within the riding. The others will ride the coat-tails of the lead candidates, to obtain seats.

You will get people who are nastier into power.

That is one valid objection to the STV.
