Windows Genuine Advantage by fireant2005-05-16 06:45:03
Sorry, what *is* the advantage of Genuine Windows? by Tomo 2005-05-16 08:29:52
Other than the legal aspect over Non-Genuine, I can't see a single one.

And why the heck would *anybody* want a regular reminder "Check your install is legal - oh yeah, it is, Share and Enjoy!"
If I was legal last year and I installed nothing more, I'm *still* legal this year.
Unless I'm a big business, in which case they'd need to check every single machine in the place. Including the ones that aren't connected to the network or are behind extremely paranoid firewalls due to the sensitive nature of their data.

There is one thing I've been wondering - the 'cost comparisons' between Windows and Linux - do they include the cost of employing a lawyer for up to a month each year (src: El Reg) to determine if a big business is complying with the incredibly complex system of licensing MS use?
I expect that the cost of once-only retraining is more than made up for by the saving in lawyers' fees alone...
