WD drives are great drives with a good history of reliability. For the most "future-proof" investment, they should be SATA, and as large as possible (320). I would recommend the WD3200JB if you want a 320GB drive. If you would be happy with a 250GB drive I just read a review by Toms Hardware about the newest Samsung Spinpoint drives, 250GB capacity (in both SATA and IDE), and they have some of the highest performance marks on the benchmarks.
