I really get annoyed with people who think that their own internal problems' outward effects on other people are far more important than the negative effects on people they profess to care about.

T_Q is going through a very difficult time, and a very difficult choice. But that doesn't mean that he can crap all over the feelings of others and not expect negative consequences. This was absolutely the wrong way to deal with this situation.

"Less than nice" is not the right descriptor for this. "Heart-rending selfishness" is more like it. I can't give any respect to that.
