skinny people are all kind of bone-shaped; it's easy to do standard sizing. As you become more generously-sized, there are more degrees of freedom for just exactly how everything is distributed. The only way to do "standard" is to go with "shapeless." An expert seamstress would take twenty or thirty measurements, not one, and come up with something that really truly fit an individual, but be useless for her next-door neighbor. Does not work for affordable mass production.
