They need to keep this a BIG story. So they have to push it from the perspective that Jackson did something wrong, even though there's no solid evidence. Otherwise it's too obvious what should happen and nobody would care to hear about it.
If there were loads of evidence making it obvious that something was wrong, the media would be pushing the point about police harassment of blacks, or potential mishandling of evidence, or something. Otherwise the story would, again, be obvious and boring.
News isn't about information. It's about stories. And all good stories have to be embellished a bit to be kept interesting. |
