Yes the store can track what I buy. But that's all they know, I left the application form blank as the small print says you can.
The phone company donesn't have your SSN unless you want them to, they ask for the last 4 digits as a pin number on the account, you can give them any number you want.
Satellite TV systems and non cable DVRs will work fine with the phone line disconnected.
It may come as a shock to some people but it is quite possible to live without cable TV.

If you want to let people track you then they can but right now you have a choice, a minor detail you missed out. The problem with government issued ID is that you don't get any choice in the matter.

If there was some real benefit then things may be different but I've yet to see a convincing argument, shorter lines to get into a club isn't much of a justification.
