I hate to say it but homeland security tends to by classic_jon 2005-05-11 08:11:15
take first and then say "oh, you weren't a *whatever they were looking for* and hand you back peices of whatever they confiscated.

A friend of mine is one of only a few top level certified model rocket launchers in Texas. The FAA allows him to launch rockets to almost outer space if he wanted to. He is also the President of the H.O.T. rocketry club in Waco.

He had the ATF/homeland security at his house several times because they thought he was a terrorist threat because he had lots of certifications and could possibly build a "bomb" from rocket fuel. Funny part is he went with them to a range and tried to blow up the Rubbery Goo that they use for fuel and proved to them the most you could get was a fast burn....like a rocket motor should do!....no matter what you did to it.

The other funny part is that his normal launch rage is within 10 miles of The Bush Ranch in Crawford and the FBI and Secret Service knew him and had already done a VERY deep background check on him. Bush even came out one time and watched a stratosphere launch once when he saw them launching.

Homeland security is a double edged sword that haas tended to overreact first before they think...most of the time.
