why hog around a pager.. by k2OS2005-05-11 00:12:35
  Landlines. by TheGM 2005-05-11 07:01:21
Can you SMS a cellphone from a landline yet?

It's one of those little things you should be able to do. There are several social situations where you should stop your mobile ringing, but receiving a text message that you can wait until a convenient moment and then check discreetly is entirely another matter.

In short, if you want your on-call staff to be on call, use a pager not a mobile.
