I find it easy for Christian and non-Christian alike to quote a single sentance and use that to cry "hippocryte!". Take for instance the following verse in reference to yours -

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." Matthew 5:17

I much prefer that scripture is understood in context, not ripped out of the bible and said "Here is something to back my opinion!"
