That was very odd. Router/Gateway/LAN help! by Tomo 2005-05-09 12:19:18
I had a few problems with the connection dropping out, so I tracerouted a few times to try to find out where.
The problems have fixed themselves now, but I noticed something VERY strange about the connection...

For some reason my default gateway was being assigned as my brother's PC, rather than the actual router.
And this was being arranged by the router's DHCP server - wth?

I've now manually entered everything to force it to be sensible, but does anyone have any idea why this would have happened?

ADSL Router is a Netgear DG834 with default settings + broadband logins, LAN IP's assigned from 192.168.0.x domain.

WinXP on both, default settings for everything, set to assign everything from a DHCP server.
