and CNN I actually watched, back in the days of the first Gulf War. I'll not easily forget the reporting the day the actual fighting started, with some huge warship pounding the beaches of Kuwait with cannons in order to draw attention away from the real invasion on the other fronts of Iraq. An awe-struck reporter commented: "That 16-inch gun is really a great counter-the-other-guy's-defenses-weapon!" And no doubt about it, if it had been aimed at those defenses instead of an abandoned seaside resort...

But even war gets boring if viewed per TV. So I no longer see any point at all to war. Except perhaps in order to defend your own liberty; not to push it down someone else's throat. Democracy is good but hard. Or at least less evil than all the alternatives. Now, isn't that where some of those media giants come in?
