if he connects a freshly installed system to the internet to download the patches from MS he will be re-owned within 5 minutes. Not long enough to get patched. He needs to get the box on the inside of a secure network before he tries to get those patches. At the very least, he needs to be behind a hardware firewall and protected by anti-virus/anti-spyware BEFORE connecting to the internet at all.
