Need a CRT Discharge Tool by RoyIreson2005-05-09 02:55:40
99 times out of 100 the screwdriver will work by classic_jon 2005-05-09 08:36:22
It is the 1 time it doesent that you can have *serious* problems. (you probably know this but....better safe than sorry ;-})

I watched a tech do that once with a screwdriver for about the umpteenth time and it burned throught the insulation on the handle and shocked him so bad he went to the
hospital with burns on his hand and . One other time a TV repair Tech told me about using the armored discharge unit at his shop and had a 21" tube blow on him "catastrophically." He said he was picking glass shards out of his celing for about a month and had to clean up a lot of scorch marks from the electric "fireball."

Most of the time no problem...it is just that one time it does not that scares me.
