Uhm hi - as a last resort I am going to ask here..
I have a PDA with GSM-support (pocket pc 2003 w/ gsm-support), and was wondering if it was possible to 'lock' the external phone-related buttons on it (new/answer call, end-call).
My use of the unit sometimes requires that the unit has to be in 'on'-mode when I put it in or take it out of the cover for it, and the design of this cover means that the call-button sometimes is hit, resulting in calls to the last person I called etc.
What I have tested so far:
Check if the mapping for the buttons can be disabled in the controlpanel on the unit -> can't - only the 2 buttons that act as shortcuts to the addressbook and the calendar can be re-mapped.
Google for registry-hacks -> found information regarding 4 keys that control mapping, but these are only for non-problematic keys (address-book, calendar, volume up, volume down).
I have tried with the vendor, but all they can do is refer to Micorosoft as the mapping for the phone-buttons apparently is controlled deeply within the OS.
What I want to do:
An additional function that allows me to lock the external buttons while the unit is in 'on'-mode. The external buttons can be locked through a dropmenu that appears when pressing and holding the power-button for a few seconds, but this is only for when the while the unit is 'standby' (or 'off' as someone might refer it as).
If anyone knows anything about an application that allows full control of all the buttons, or which registry-keys might control them, it would be most helpful.
For information, its an Ipaq 6340, but from what I can understand from the replies I have gotten from HP, the mapping of the phone-keys are 100% OS-controlled.
Cheers!
