they would be shielded enough, given the general attitude of the public towards "Turn Off Your Smegging Mobiles You Dolts" requests. But, yeah, if petrol fumes ignited quite that easily then the surrounding houses would have to replace their windows every few weeks (the "movie science" website I linked yesterday couldn't even get cigarettes to do it -- it needed a match).
