video editor for dvb mpeg anyone? (for kanotix) by ripley8 2005-05-07 06:19:06
My harddisk is filling up and it's time I start doing something about it.

And since DVB still didn't bring a method to properly record exactly what you
want (begin recording at start of show) I have some 2 minutes in front of one
show I wanted to see right now I need to get rid of before I can watch it.

Why?

Because Kaffeine (which made the recording!) freaks totally out when I open the
file so I try mplayer which kind of works. Trouble is - the 2 minutes in front
are in varying aspect ratios (movie trailer inbetween) and mplayer manages to
apply 16:9 twice and not turning back, so I end up with a squished 16:9 image of
a 4:3 show.

Once I can cut the recordings to my needs I can start filling DVDs from them so
I've got room for more recordings...
I have avidemux installed but it doesn't want to open the files or with another
file it wanted to index it for over an hour at 100% cpu load...
