| If they do that, you should present them with a bill for 100 hours at 200 dollars per hour for consulant's fees for figuring out their job for them. I know that's not even close to what you'd make if you actually got the bid, but it's something.
Is there ANY way for you to get "your" subcontractors to not work for your quoted price if they're approached by anyone else?
I've had similar things happen on freelance job boards (for really tiny jobs - a couple of day's work kind of thing). But you know what? The people who undercut your already "discounted" rates will do shoddy work and guess who they will come crawling to to fix it after it's all SNAFUed? (and if that happens, it's time to charge them PITA rates).
