The microphones tend to be designed for picking up human speech, but don't handle complex or high-pitched sounds so well. Play the recording back through a tiny little speaker and you've a recipe for one unhappy Hellahulla. ;o) I started out trying to record my favourite music, but it was making those soaring pipes and whistles sound like a cat having a disagreement with a blackboard. Simple, low-pitched, vocal-type sounds, like a cow introducing herself, actually come across pretty well.
