here in NZ (ie a VERY long time before most people) and although I enjoyed the movie and loved the song at the beginning, I was a little disappointed.
When the TV programme came to NZ I was probably a little young to understand it, and it was on past my bedtime, so I don't have many strong memories of that. Dad did once manage to get hold of the radio plays from work (he worked in radio), but again I was too young to remember much.
The memories I did have involved me laughing lots, but only half as much as my parents.
The final sum up I gave to my dad was this: "Americanised humour, on a BBC budget. It is a good movie, but if you can get in on a comp, you won't be so disappointed". |
