The omnibus books give a bit of a history. by AndyA 2005-05-05 12:08:59
The origional form was the first radio series of 6 episodes.
The first book was then written and covered roughtly the first 4 episodes of the radio show.
After that things get confusing. The order of events after that is totally different between the book and radio versions. (until the 3rd radio series which was basically a radio version of the 3rd book and followed on from the second book rather than the second radio series).
There was also a BBC TV series, most of the cast were the same as for the radio shows. The series was 6 1/2 hour episodes and followed the first radio series fairly closely but with a few bits from the books and the odd new bit mixed in.

The music in the film when you first see the the guide is the origional radio & TV theme music. The marvin from the TV show is standing in the line on the vogon planet.
