The downside is when the system goes bonkers just before the end of the auction and I don't get a bid in (happened once). The upside is that, as you say, I don't go any further than I was willing. Next implementation of this strategy in 4.5 hours (for something that should go for 5.50). Next after that is 1 day (for something that could go as far as 600-700, has one bid (possibly in the 200 range based on that person's recent buying habits from the same vendor), but could go for under 100 (my maximum)). The 'snipe' is the only way that I have a chance to get the item at a good price. Ah well, we shall see what we shall see!
