Why is my new hard drive so slow? by Egaeus2006-11-19 12:55:59
  Try a different cable? by themadkansan2005-05-04 18:29:31
    And....nothing by Egaeus 2005-05-04 20:45:42
So I tried some different configurations. Here are the results, the first being the original configuration:
Boot Dr. Jmpr Cable Other Dr. Jmpr OnCable Result
160GB CS MA Connected CS SL 160 Slow
160GB MA MA Connected SL SL Both Undetected
160GB MA MA Disconn. N/A N/A 160 Slow
160GB CS SL Disconn. N/A N/A 160 Slow
40GB CS MA Connected CS SL 160 Undetected
40GB MA MA Connected SL SL 160 Undetected
160GB MA SL Connected SL MA Both Undetected
So the 40GB drive is screwy apparently, but it still doesn't explain the 160's slowness. I don't understand it. If it was the cable, then booting the 160 off of the slave connector should have cured it since the 40 does fine there. Maybe I'll try a reinstall without the 40 attached at all. Otherwise I don't get it.
