I don't have a spare though, I'm going to try some different configurations. I'll update later. Probably much later seing how slow the drive is being.

One thing I've noticed is that the drives don't work together if they're jumpered master/slave. Only Cable Select works. It might have something to do with the 40GB acting weird (not detected) that made me go buy a new one and dd really quick. That's going to slow me down on testing too, since I only have the one cable.
