and I lost my post this time, and I'm not typing it again.
So... summary mode:
1) Start session.
2) Character #1 (can't remember class, created for the session) destroyed approaching shore by NPC (thus affirming belief that DM was a goofball :-)
3) Character #2 (relatively new character), while riding flying carpet across causeway, lighting way for rest of party (soles of boots had been ensorcelled to cast light) flamed by a small dragon, injured badly, fell off carpet, plunged 300ft to doom at bottom.
4) Character #3 (a favourite magic user), enters room in company with a much higher level magic user (a friend of mine). Not paying attention, when attacked by creature in room, friend casts fireball. Bad move when volume of fireball is greater than volume of *closed* room.
5) Character #4 died ignobly when he left the party in a fit of pique at the DM :-)
