Stupid vendor!!!
We had replicated the "new" views to our Test environment. And I also do remember testing them there and them working.
However, it was a permissions/scope issue. The vendor wrote their queries to access the views without specifying the table owner. This means if a user account did not automatically have its scope changed to the main DBO account, it couldn't see any of the views.
Typically, in Oracle, you can work around this by creating synonyms, which will redirect a request for <object> to <owner>.<object>. However, the vendor didn't create any synonyms either.

Don't create systems that have specific account dependencies without documenting them!!!!! And no, this is not in the documentation anywhere.
*thud*
Ah, well. Testing now completed and internal documenation updated.
