Not that I agree... I think you've got the right idea about Unions, and I also think you're right in the fact that there is no good or even reasonable solution to the problem.

I think people need to look around and see the results of what 80 years of unions have done to the United States. Granted, the unions have done *some* good things... Demanding a safer workplace is always good. However, demanding wage increases when the market is slumping is not.

My own experience with unions was at a steel mill in Louisiana. For three years, I saw people complain through the Union Reps because of low pay. They were getting steel mill salaries in a chemical plant area of the state. Naturally, they wanted chem plant salaries in the steel mill. Their actions (and the fact that management caved to their demands instead of firing them all and becoming a non-Union shop) are what drove that steel mill out of business.
