PHP V. Java by Psyop2005-05-04 04:30:37
Good Stuff, Thanks by Psyop 2005-05-04 11:32:40
Thanks all for some great input. It was pretty much in line with what we were thinking. I just wanted to make sure that I was not missing something blindingly obvious.

The entire situation sort of caught me off guard. I came from a shop that switched from a proprietary language to J2EE and am something of a proponent of OOP with Java being my first choice. It just did not to make sense to use Java for this from a technology needs or business logic perspective.

Ah well I know that logical arguments can fail against either of the two monsters of tech belief. The first being; This is my favorite language/script and nothing you can say will make me consider using anything else; The second being, I looked at this five years ago and did not like it.

I am now off to use the only weapon left in my arsenal that can defeat these twin beasties of illogical/emotional thought, reams & reams of paper. If you can not defeat your foes with cool logic then drown them in white/position/way ahead/five year plan papers!
