Walmart opened I don't know 4 or 5 years ago... Since then dozens of new retailers have opened surrounding the walmart, creating a whole new section of commerce, in which was just a field before.
The mall area continues to thrive.
The old downtown has become the center of smaller buisnesses / mom and pop shops, it has been revitalized, and given a unique and culture feel. It also booms, and parking is nearly impossible to find for the area. Not to mention that in 2 days it should get another large boost as a large Casino, hotel, convention center opens just on the fringe of old 'downtown', I don't think they have anything to worry about. |
