(well, I knew about their shampoo and conditioner - they're pretty good but kinda expensive) but they also had a sample container out. This let me smell it and see how light it is and how smoothly it goes on. It also had a complete ingredients list - something a lot of brands, including Oil of Olay and other more expensive types, tend to lack. All this sold me on trying it out (secure in the knowledge I would return it if I broke out because of it).
Avon and Mary Kay are good brands, as well, but I find them more expensive than I like and I dislike their smell in general (including the unscented stuff).
