Antibiotics for acne? by oot2005-05-04 09:26:58
  Accutane by Pentavirate 2005-05-04 09:41:56
I don't know if you're male or female. My understanding is that the biggest potential risk of accutane are birth defects. They're particularly bad in that they happen within the first 4 to 6 weeks of pregnancy which is usually before you even know you're pregnant. (I guess the baby can be born without ears among other things.)

I took 2 cycles of accutane. After the first cycle it started coming back so they did a second. It hasn't been back since (more than is typical for an adult to get, that is). It is amazing.

They'll want to take blood tests while you're on it just to make sure there are no side affects. I never had any but I rarely have side affects from anything. They are pretty careful.

Here's the benefit. You're not on an antibiotic for 2 years. It's bad news if you build up a resistance and then later in life you really need an antibiotic for something life threatening.

Anyway, ultimately it's your choice. I'm just a success story for accutane and I know there are lots of people who have used it very successfully but I have never met anyone that has suffered from a side affect.
