MS Project Customize fields help

I would appreciate any help I could get.

If I had a task with more then 1 resource in it and I inserted the column "resource name" it would display all the resources in that task like so. ..
Cats[], dogs[], brids[]

My question is this.
Is there a way I can get a column to display just the first recourse whatever that my be?

This will probable involve writing a customized field formula.
