when it comes to significant others. Don't be afraid to lay down the Law According to Spisefisken. I've never had a bad set of in-laws, but my HS boyfriend NEVER let me meet either of his parents (for 5 years). I think he was ashamed of them, and knew they wouldn't behave properly. What an awkward situation it must have been for your gf. It was just the 4 of you? I would be incredibly angry with my parents over that. My strategy is really not recommended for others: Marry a total jerk and be with him for 9 years, and then after that, anyone else you bring home is as a God to them. (This was also my current husband's strategy with HIS parents as well <grin>)
