Mac IE never asked to be updated. I believe I've got version 5.5 on my mac, but that was manually updated (I intentionally kept updated back when I was a pro html diva). I've continually looked for more updates because so many things are broken in 5.5, but there've been no updates since... and it's been a little more than 3 years since I left that career.
